Proficiency Level
Level 1 (Follow)
- Follows specific instructions to gather predefined pieces of information from stakeholders using simple questions or forms.
- Uses standard templates accurately to document the information gathered.
- Takes clear notes during requirements gathering meetings as directed.
Level 2 (Assist)
- Assists senior analysts in conducting stakeholder interviews or workshops by taking detailed notes and organizing information.
- Helps draft requirement statements or user stories based on gathered information, under supervision.
- Supports the documentation and organization of requirements artefacts.
Level 3 (Apply)
- Independently conducts requirements elicitation activities (interviews, workshops, observation) for moderately complex projects using standard techniques.
- Analyses, documents, and validates business requirements and functional specifications.
- Creates process models (e.g., flowcharts) or use cases to represent business needs.
Level 4 (Ensure)
- Leads and facilitates the business needs analysis process for complex or large-scale initiatives.
- Ensures requirements are complete, unambiguous, prioritized, traceable, and aligned with overall business objectives.
- Manages stakeholder expectations and resolves conflicts related to requirements.
Level 5 (Strategise)
- Develops and implements organisational standards, methodologies, and tools for business needs analysis and requirements management.
- Proactively identifies strategic business needs and opportunities beyond specific project requests.
- Mentors and develops the capabilities of business analysts within the organisation.
